She is an advocate of\u00a0<a title=\"Criminal justice reform in the United States\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Criminal_justice_reform_in_the_United_States\">criminal justice reform<\/a>. Rollins was the president and CEO of the\u00a0<a title=\"Texas Public Policy Foundation\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Texas_Public_Policy_Foundation\">Texas Public Policy Foundation<\/a>, an\u00a0<a title=\"Austin, Texas\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Austin,_Texas\">Austin<\/a>-based conservative\u00a0<a title=\"Think tank\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Think_tank\">think tank<\/a>, from 2003 through 2018. During her tenure at\u00a0<a title=\"Texas Public Policy Foundation\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Texas_Public_Policy_Foundation\">TPPF<\/a>, the think tank grew from having a staff of three to a staff of 100.<\/p>\n<p>Rollins oversaw the White House\u00a0<a title=\"Office of American Innovation\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Office_of_American_Innovation\">Office of American Innovation<\/a>\u00a0under President Donald Trump from 2018 until 2020. She also served as the acting director of the\u00a0<a title=\"United States Domestic Policy Council\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_States_Domestic_Policy_Council\">United States Domestic Policy Council<\/a>\u00a0under President Trump. Since the end of the Trump administration, Rollins served as the president and CEO of the\u00a0<a title=\"America First Policy Institute\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/America_First_Policy_Institute\">America First Policy Institute<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On November 23, 2024,\u00a0<a title=\"President-elect of the United States\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/President-elect_of_the_United_States\">President-elect<\/a>\u00a0Trump announced his intent to nominate Rollins to be\u00a0<a title=\"United States Secretary of Agriculture\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_States_Secretary_of_Agriculture\">secretary of agriculture<\/a>. The First Step Act was signed into law by President Trump in December 2018.<sup id=\"cite_ref-10\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Brooke_Rollins#cite_note-10\"><span class=\"cite-bracket\">[<\/span>10<span class=\"cite-bracket\">]<\/span><\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n<div class=\"mw-heading mw-heading4\">\n<h4 id=\"Domestic_Policy_Council\">Domestic Policy Counci<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<p>In May 2020, President Trump named Rollins acting director of the\u00a0<a title=\"United States Domestic Policy Council\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_States_Domestic_Policy_Council\">United States Domestic Policy Council<\/a>.<sup id=\"cite_ref-11\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Brooke_Rollins#cite_note-11\"><span class=\"cite-bracket\">[<\/span>11<span class=\"cite-bracket\">]<\/span><\/a><\/sup><sup id=\"cite_ref-12\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Brooke_Rollins#cite_note-12\"><span class=\"cite-bracket\">[<\/span>12<span class=\"cite-bracket\">]<\/span><\/a><\/sup><sup id=\"cite_ref-13\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Brooke_Rollins#cite_note-13\"><span class=\"cite-bracket\">[<\/span>13<span class=\"cite-bracket\">]<\/span><\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n<p>In her first public interview as acting director of the Domestic Policy Council, Rollins said she was focused on bringing &#8220;together all sides of the table to figure out how we can move forward together.&#8221;<sup id=\"cite_ref-fox_14-0\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Brooke_Rollins#cite_note-fox-14\"><span class=\"cite-bracket\">[<\/span>14<span class=\"cite-bracket\">]<\/span><\/a><\/sup>\u00a0She said the U.S. &#8220;is a nation in mourning for the senseless death of\u00a0<a title=\"George Floyd\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/George_Floyd\">George Floyd<\/a>\u00a0and the senseless loss of livelihood all over this country.&#8221; Rollins struck an optimistic tone on the country&#8217;s future, saying &#8220;this is America and we have been through difficult times before. We are a nation of doers and believers and dreamers, and we are a nation where if anybody tells us to step back, we step three feet forward.&#8221;<sup id=\"cite_ref-fox_14-1\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Brooke_Rollins#cite_note-fox-14\"><span class=\"cite-bracket\">[<\/span>14<span class=\"cite-bracket\">]<\/span><\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n<p>Amid nationwide protests and racial unrest, Rollins said &#8220;we need everyone to rise above the division and the divide and come together.&#8221; She said the White House was &#8220;working through a list of solutions and possibilities, bipartisan. How do we come together? How do we use this as a unifying force for this country?&#8221;<sup id=\"cite_ref-15\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Brooke_Rollins#cite_note-15\"><span class=\"cite-bracket\">[<\/span>15<span class=\"cite-bracket\">]<\/span><\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n<p>At an event announcing the signing of the new order, President Trump said his goal was to maintain law and order as well as justice and safety. He said &#8220;Reducing crime and raising standards are not opposite goals. They are not mutually exclusive.
